Dear Laurel Community:
We are excited about a community project that is taking place at the Kiwanis Park in 2021. On October 19th, 2020 through a “grassroots” effort, a group of Laurel Residents has started to organize to rebuild Kids’ Kingdom Playground. This playground is not only for children of Laurel, but for our grandchildren and children throughout the area. What makes this project unique is that the entire community has the opportunity to help with fundraising and supply the labor to renovate the playground in only five days during the week of May 12-16, 2021.

A little history of the Kids Kingdom Playground al the Kiwanis Park:

In spring of 2005, four moms met at a Laurel City Council Meeting. There was a vote coming up for playground equipment to be added to Thomson Park. We all went to voice our support. In response to other parks needing equipment Project HELP (Help Equip Laurel Parks) was created.

The group raised over $100,000 by engaging the Laurel community of volunteers and sponsors. The project was completed in May of 2006.
Please check out the picture of the original project and what it looks like today below.

An assessment of the current park and a report that includes various suggestions and recommendations to repair. replace. or remove parts of the playground to bring it up to current standards has been completed.

The overall estimate to renovate the playground is around S150,000. The Laurel Park Board. Laurel Rotary Club, Laurel Montana Community Foundation, and The Grace Bible Church fully support this community project. But. we also need the help of the community to complete this project of returning Kids· Kingdom Playground to current Playground Equipment Standards.

How many kids have played on this playground in the last 15 years and can we provide for another 15 years of life and memories?

One way that we can show our community that we love and support our children is on Giving Tuesday, December 1, 2020 we are kicking off our campaign by setting a goal of S50,000 to get the ball rolling for this community project. Thank you for considering this very special project and helping us achieve our goal.

Sincerely,
Kids Kingdom Restoration Committee
